Questions and answers about the move to PokerStars.CH

We are pleased to inform you that we have a new version of the PokerStars software, to reflect the fact that we have partnered up with casino777.ch to provide poker for Swiss residents. All players who are resident in Switzerland will need to upgrade to the new software, which offers the opportunity to play with the same players in the same games that were enjoyed on the old software.

Upgrading your account is straightforward and if you have any questions you should find the answers below:

The migration to the new PokerStars.CH platform will be available as soon as it is approved by the regulator.

Simply log in to your existing Stars Account then follow the on-screen prompts to upgrade the software and move your account.

Yes, the move is mandatory for all players residing in Switzerland. If you are not residing in Switzerland and have been asked to move your account to PokerStars.CH please contact Support with your current address details.

No. If you are a resident of Switzerland and have a Stars Account, you must move your account to PokerStars.CH.

The whole process should only take a few minutes. You simply need to log in to your existing Stars Account and then follow the prompts to upgrade to the PokerStars.CH version of the software.

Your account will be migrated over to casino777.ch but you will get to enjoy the same rich PokerStars experience using our dedicated PokerStars.CH software. You will also get to keep your existing Stars ID.

Its important to note that you will be asked to specify a username for your account during the migration process. This username is separate from your Stars ID and will only be required to log into your migrated account. Your Stars ID will still be used as your display name on poker tables and tournaments.

Upon migration, all balances of your account currencies will be consolidated to USD. Any existing StarsCoin will be credited as real money in your account. Once consolidated, the remaining balance needs to be withdrawn from your account before migration can take place.

Of course! However, bear in mind that your username cannot contain any special characters.

Yes, there are some scenarios where you would need to take action to complete the move (which is required to keep playing). These are:

  • You have a pending withdrawal (action: please wait until processed (up to 48 hours), or cancel it through the ‘Cashier’, via ‘Pending Cashouts’, then complete the steps under 'How do I move my account').
  • You have excluded yourself from play (action: wait until the self-exclusion has expired, then complete the steps under 'How do I move my account')
  • You have a negative balance (action: contact Support for assistance)
  • You have a cash balance remaining on your account. Under the new regulations for Swiss players you are not allowed to bring your funds directly into the new Swiss license from your existing Stars A Please proceed to the Cashier to withdraw your existing balance
  • You are registered in an existing tournament (action: You need to unregister from any tournaments)
  • You are in an existing cash game (action: finish the game you are playing before completing the process)
  • You have existing unopened Chests (action: open all existing unopened Chests before proceeding with the migration)

You will be asked to upload valid ID documentation to verify your identity. You will have up to 30 days to submit such documentation for your account to be considered permanent. Failure to provide documents within this time limit will lead to a permanent closure of your account.

If you wish to deposit 4000 CHF or more within 24 hours, you will be requested to e-verify yourself by means of a webcam or mobile phone camera.

You will still be able to access the same great games and tournaments.  You will also be able to play against the same players as you did previously. The player pool will not change.

You will have the ability to deposit and withdraw in Swiss Francs (CHF), however, poker gameplay with be carried out in US Dollars (USD). Your funds will be automatically converted to USD and placed into your poker wallet balance when you deposit straight from the Cashier of the PokerStars client.

You will also have a tool to transfer funds to/from your poker wallet balance which will also automatically convert your funds to USD.

It remains the responsibility of the player to adhere to the laws and regulations of Switzerland. Since each person’s situation will be unique, it is impossible for us to advise individuals on such matters. For further information, we recommend you consult with your lawyer or a certified accountant.

All players in Switzerland will be unregistered from any live events they were registered for to allow migration to take place. Once you have completed your migration to PokerStars.CH, the registrations team will register you back into those events within 48 hours.

Yes, absolutely. You will not be segregated or moved away from the general population – PokerStars.CH will not change any of this.

This is not necessarily the case. Please note that the legislation across the world varies, and that local legislation may limit your ability to play while abroad.

No. To comply with local regulations, players from Switzerland are not permitted to send or receive real money transfers.

Once your account is created, you will be asked to specify a daily wagering limit and a daily maximum transfer limit. It is important to note that the wagering limit will only apply to casino gameplay, not for poker play. Poker play will use the daily maximum transfer limit and the daily spend limit to control your spending.  Do note that the daily spend limit can be found under the ‘Responsible Gaming’ section of the PokerStars client.

Yes, you can download the PokerStars.CH client and enjoy all the new features and options in the new software! Simply download the client and log-in using your existing Stars Account details.

As per the Swiss regulations, Swiss players are only entitled to have an account on casino777.ch. Swiss accounts on .ES will be closed, and account holders will be asked to withdraw their funds.

No. This does not affect any of the rules governing our tables and games. Because you continue to be able to play in the same global player pool, as a courtesy to other players we must ask that only English is used at the tables (unless other languages are specifically listed as approved at the table/tournament).
