ASHAU VALLEY (2) opened this prep with an impressive win in a BM64 over 1406m at Benalla, a race that threw up four subsequent winners. Failed in a better field at Bendigo last time but back in a country BM58 he looks the goods. MAYFAIR HOTEL (8) overcame a slow start to win with a bit up her sleeve last time out over this course and distance. May still have more to offer at just the fourth run of the prep so stick with her. HUSSY PIE (11) raced handy but lacked dash when midfield over the mile at Wodonga recently. Ran a better race two back at this track. Worth another chance with the senior rider taking over. SOUL TAKER (10) has been about the mark at all four runs this prep, the last three over today's journey. Very fit and must be considered. DOWNTOWN'S ABBEY (7) meets Mayfair Hotel 2kgs better for a 1.4 length defeat here recently. Sure to be thereabouts.
