A lot of you now find yourselves at home during the weekdays and evenings when you’d usually be at work.
In my group of friends, we refer to Monday through Thursday evenings as “School nights”. “I can’t play poker tonight, it’s a school night,” is something I’ve said far too many times when a 7am alarm clock awaited me the next morning.
Now, for many people, school nights don’t really come with the same sense of foreboding.
Are you waking up early? Great. There are some amazing tournaments you can hop in.
Are you staying up later at night? No problem. There are some amazing tournaments to see you through.
Here are five of the best weekday tournaments you should be playing.
MONDAY 6-MAX
5am ET / 10am WET: $215 and $22 editions
1pm ET / 6pm WET: $109 and $11 editions
6pm ET / 11pm WET: $215 and $22 editions
Nothing kicks off the week and blows away the cobwebs like some short-handed, action-packed six-max action.
A lot of the regulars take Mondays off after a gruelling Sunday session, so you might even find that the fields aren’t as tough as you’d expect.
MINI SUPER TUESDAY
5am ET / 10am WET: $215 and $22 editions
1pm ET / 6pm WET: $109 edition
6pm ET / 11pm WET: $215 and $22 editions
While the $1K buy-in Super Tuesday now resides inside the High Roller Club, smaller versions mean that those of us with more modest bankrolls can still play and try to add the historic online title to our résumés.
The Mini Super Tuesdays are good old fashioned freezeouts with great structures and big guarantees. What’s not to love about that?
WEDNESDAY BATTLE ROYALE
5am ET / 10am WET: $109 and $11 editions
1pm ET / 6pm WET: $215 and $22 editions
6pm ET / 11pm WET: $109 and $11 editions
While we love freezeouts, we–like the rest of the online poker world–have fallen in love with Bounty Builders and Progressive Knockout tournaments the past few years.
One of the best takes place right bang in the middle of the week: the Wednesday Battle Royale. Get involved and start taking names and collecting bounties.
THURSDAY THRILL
5am ET / 10am WET: $215 and $22 editions
1pm ET / 6pm WET: $109 edition
6pm ET / 11pm WET: $215 and $22 editions
The PokerStars schedule continues the PKO trend into Thursday with the Thursday Thrill. If you watch PokerStars Ambassador Lex Veldhuis on Twitch, you might remember that Lex took down the $1K buy-in high roller edition of this tournament back in 2017 for $55K.
Speaking about the Thursday Thrill, Lex told us: “The Thrill is an amazing tournament. In my opinion, bounties really bring another level of strategy and excitement. People play hands differently because there is a short stack with a bounty somewhere, and you have to solve that puzzle.
“Bounties provide that extra lair as well. The Thrill is the biggest bounty builder online and everyone shows up to play it.”
FAST FRIDAY
5am ET / 10am WET: $109 and $11 editions
1pm ET / 6pm WET: $215 and $22 editions
6pm ET / 11pm WET: $109 and $11 editions
If you get the Friday feeling and are looking for some excitement, PokerStars has you got covered with the Fast Friday turbo tournaments.
Fast structures mean you don’t have to grind all day or all night, and with its big guarantees, you can land a decent score in just a few hours.
If these tournaments are new to you and you plan on trying them out for the first time, let us know how you get on over on Twitter: @PokerStarsBlog.
Best of luck if you decide to play on PokerStars this week!
