The local SPIRIT MEISTER (4) brings three threatening efforts from Townsville and there was a lip in it last time in Open grade. He has been kept on the fresh side and is well-placed to return to the winners list. BURNS TO EMBRACE (6) has been racing okay but short of his best. He tumbles 5kg in this grade and that brings him into it. ROUGH CUT JEWEL (3) made good improvement at Townsville over this distance before winning comfortably at Cooktown over a shorter sprint. Held his figures and can't be ruled out. COUNTER COMMAND (5) and DELUXE LEGEND (7) are also going well enough to consider.
